  Hi! Thank you for your interest in the images. I found the patterns with a Java program that I made. They are solutions to an equation called the Helmholtz equation, whose solutions are standing waves. The program finds those specific to a hexagon. I specify a frequency and the program computes the pattern along with some error measure. If error is very low, we're close to a resonant frequency. The resonant patterns should apply to most types of vibrations to some degree. The images don't display the frequencies directly, because those depend on type of vibration. For vibrating plates, the freq is ν² times a constant. Whenever there's at least 2 patterns at the same frequency, their combinations can produce a continuous range of possible patterns for that frequency. Maybe at some point I could make animated versions where one can see all the combined patterns as well. The images consist of all the first couple "normal modes", i.e. the building block patterns necessary to produce all other patterns

  Hello Jodina, thank you for your support!

  The pool will be 3 meter diameter, and o course I will prefer not doing any hole in it.

  If it´s possible to trasmit the vibration from outside it will be perfect!

  The is gonna be in PVC 75/100 and it will be 50 cm high, that means that there will be around 3000 liter of water.

  I could create a support in the bottom to support any vibration generator but I don´t know if this is enough and which kind of woofer I should use and how many.

  Here you can find a short desctription of the project (the Cymatic part is not in there yet!)

  I don´t understand how to transmit the sound, with which kind of technical equipment i need to have to transmit the vibration to the pool from outside.

  Hello Jodina, thank you for accepting me in in this inspiring group.

  I´m working on a cymatic project, it´s an artistic instalaltion taht will take place in milan (Italy) in April. I would like to fill a pvc pool with water and move it with sound frequecny vibration.

  The only problem is that I still don´t know how to generate the frequency without making a hole in the pool, and I´m worry that the pvc material is too tick to transmit the sound waves to the water.
